Perfy is the only commercially available tool that exposes key Windows CE system
characteristics such as Available physical memory and Remaining battery life as
well as .net Compact Framework statistics such as Number of objects allocated,
Execution engine startup time and Peak bytes allocated
in the standard Windows Performance monitor. This allows developers and testers to capture performance
statistics of mobile applications and chart them out using industry standard
tools such as Microsoft Excel.
Perfy was invented as no other tool was available offering this functionality. The need for this
application arised during the development of an innovative GPS based mobile Golf solution,
The GolfMate, for one of our customers.
As a game of Golf can take a number of hours, it was essential for the acceptance of the solution
that the hardware's battery would last long enough. The GolfMate software is highly sophisticated
and battery intensive as it uses a combination of WiFi, BlueTooth, GPS and complex screen rendering
which rotates holes in real-time.
A number of scenarios were defined and Perfy was used to measure the results, which are displayed below.
Perfy was also used successfully to track memory leaks in the application.
